The iconic “earthrise” photo was taken from Commander Jim Lovell’s mission on Apollo 8 and considered to be one of the most significant photos in history. Lovell is more famous for his leadership of Apollo 13 and exemplifies the ability to keep a cool head during a crisis and the benefits of training and preparedness. These are attributes we appreciate and emulate. Lovell and Trevor Hale share a passion for exploration and are both members of the Explorer’s Club, a multidisciplinary, professional society dedicated to the advancement of field research, scientific exploration and resource conservation.
